Software Quality Engineer (Java, J2EE)
Department: Technology
Location: HQ McLean, VA, USA

Basic Function: The Software Quality Engineer tests, analyzes and improves MicroStrategy’s software products to ensure the highest level of quality product is delivered to customers.

Job Duties (include but not limited to):

• Contribute, as part of a team, towards our organizational goal of providing customers with products that exceed their quality standards.
• Research and identify flaws in our products before they are released to the public; participate in the analysis and resolution of issues.
• Maintain controlled testing environments in Windows, AIX, Solaris, HP-UX and Linux.
• Design and develop testing tools to increase efficiency and coverage of tests.
• Develop product expertise; work with back-end teams to ensure cross-product quality.
• Apply knowledge of business process and strong technical skills to analyze internal/customer needs and design and improve decision support systems

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field, Information Systems, Industrial, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Science (Master’s degree a plus) GPA 3.5+
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Self-starter with initiative and willing to learn new technologies quickly and independently
• Ability to work well in a team and work with people inside and outside of the company
• Cross-team collaboration skills
• Multi-tasking skills and ability to work under tight deadlines, pressure, and minimum supervision
• Process oriented with the ability to pay close attention to details
• Gather knowledge about the needs of our customers; simulate customer settings and usage patterns of our technology in a controlled environment.
• Programming experience using Java and knowledge of web technologies including J2EE, JSP, JavaScript, XML/XSL, CSS, HTML and DHTML

A plus if candidate has:

• Solid Quality Engineering knowledge/experience in a full software lifecycle
• In-depth knowledge of Web technologies including Web Servers, Applications Servers and Portal ServersExperience in Flex applications development
