3. How do I get my CSN?

If you filed a 2002 California individual income tax return, there are two easy ways to get your CSN:

By mail – If you e-filed your own return last year, we sent you a sealed postcard with your CSN inside.

On our Website – If you didn’t receive your CSN in the mail or if you lost it, you can look it up online.

If you did not file a 2002 California individual income tax return, you must call our Taxpayer Services Center to get your CSN or have a CSN assigned. Call toll-free in the United States: (800) 353-9032. From outside the United States, call (916) 845-6600.

Telephone assistance is available year-round from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, except state holidays. We may modify these hours without notice to meet operational needs.
