안녕하세요. 이번에 미국 연구소 지원중에 다음과 같은
질문에 답을 해야 하는 데, 무슨 질문인지 잘 모르겠습니다.
혹시 이런 질문에 답해 보신분 계신지요? 저는 핑거프린트했는데
이것을 말하는 것인지요? 혹시 아시는 분 답해 주시면 정말
감사하겠읍니다.

“Candidates must have an active US Government Security
Clearance and have been re-investigated within the
last five years.”

지원중 다음의 메세지를 받았읍니다. 무슨뜻인지요?

“Do you have an active current US Government
Security Clearance?”

Security Clearance … 한국식으로 설명하자면 “비밀문서취급 허가” 라고 해야 되나? 아무튼 background check 하고 정부(국방) 관련일을 하는데 문제가
없는지 조사를 하는데, 시간이 상당히 걸리는 조사입니다.
그래서 그 조사에 통과하고 나면 Security Clearance 라는 허가증을 주는데
그것 또한 기간이 정해져 있지요.

영주권자도 받을 수 있는지는 모르겠습니다…

“Status” has nothing to do with “security clearance”.

Email to the applying lab and check if you may be eligible to apply.

Whenever you see “Security Clearnce,” it comes with US-born citizen or naturalized citizen. You need to check your status first.

If they want citizen, the ads should say “citizen”,
not “security clearance”.

The following excerpt is from April 2005 news.
“…The U.S. State Department has announced that
the duration of /security clearance/ required for
certain foreign science students and scholars
applying for visas has been extended from one year
to up to four years…”

Does this make any sense if you presume
/security clearnace = citizen/ ?
